She recently announced the White House AI Challenge for K-12 students.
First Lady Melania Trump hosted a meeting of the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education on Thursday, which included private sector leaders.
The first lady said, “I predict AI will represent the single largest growth category in our nation during the Trump Administration—and I won’t be surprised if AI becomes known as the greatest engine of progress in the history of the United States of America.“
Mrs. Trump added, “As leaders and parents we must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children—empowering, but with watchful guidance. We are living in a moment of wonder, and it is our responsibility to prepare America’s children.”
The first lady announced an “AI challenge” competition for students in kindergarten through 12th grade last week, inviting them to “to solve real-world problems in their communities using AI-powered solutions.”
“Are you ready for an AI challenge? Take part in this nationwide initiative to discover, develop and expand AI’s potential,” Mrs. Trump said in the video announcement. “Just as America once led the world into the skies, we are poised to lead again, this time in the age of AI.”
All students that participate will receive a certificate, and those selected as champions for their work will receive cash prizes. Champions will also be considered for an invitation to showcase their project at the White House.
